WHEN TO USE THIS
- Hand raw footage to an editor without waiting on a cloud transfer service. Skip the account creation and transfer-link expiry games some file-transfer tools force on you.
- Share a walkthrough or screen recording with a client or team that's too big for email or chat. Most chat apps re-compress or reject large video files outright, a direct link sidesteps both problems.
- Archive an event, interview, or raw capture somewhere you can send the link later without re-uploading. Keep the original quality intact rather than relying on a platform that re-encodes on upload.
- Send a video in whatever format it was recorded in. MOV from an iPhone, AVI from an older camera, MKV from a screen recorder, no conversion needed first.
WHEN NOT TO USE THIS
If the video needs to be public-facing, discoverable, and playable everywhere without a direct link (searchable, embeddable widely, watchable in mobile apps without a browser), a proper video platform like YouTube or Vimeo is the better tool. This is for direct handoffs and one-to-one sharing, not distribution.
What a video link is
A video link is a web address that points straight at your video file. Open it and MP4 and WebM files play right in the browser. Other formats, such as MOV or AVI, download instead.

Why a link beats sending the file
Email services usually cap attachments at around 20 to 25MB, and many chat apps compress a video or refuse a big one outright. A link avoids both problems.
We host the file exactly as you uploaded it. Nothing is re-encoded, so the resolution, bitrate and sound match your original.
Sharing a video without a video platform
YouTube and Vimeo are built for publishing. For a one-off share, such as raw footage for an editor, a screen recording for a client or a bug report, you can skip the account, the privacy settings and the processing wait. Upload, copy the link, send it.
This is not the right tool for public distribution. If you want people to find the video, embed it widely or watch it in a mobile app, use a video platform instead.
How much video fits in 49MB
The free limit is 49MB per file. At 1080p that is roughly 2 to 4 minutes of video. A lower bitrate export or 720p gets you more. Pro removes the size cap, so longer recordings are fine there.
Which format to upload
MP4 is the safest choice. Nearly every browser plays it in place, so recipients can watch straight away. A MOV from an iPhone or an AVI from an older camera works as a link too, but it may download instead of playing.

How long the link lasts, and who can see it
Free links work for 30 days. Pro (£24/yr) makes them permanent.
The link is not listed or searchable, but anyone with the exact URL can open it without logging in. Do not use it for footage that has to stay private.
