WHEN TO USE THIS
- Hand raw footage to an editor without waiting on a cloud transfer service. Skip the account creation and transfer-link expiry games some file-transfer tools force on you.
- Share a walkthrough or screen recording with a client or team that's too big for email or chat. Most chat apps re-compress or reject large video files outright, a direct link sidesteps both problems.
- Archive an event, interview, or raw capture somewhere you can send the link later without re-uploading. Keep the original quality intact rather than relying on a platform that re-encodes on upload.
- Send a video in whatever format it was recorded in. MOV from an iPhone, AVI from an older camera, MKV from a screen recorder, no conversion needed first.
WHEN NOT TO USE THIS
If the video needs to be public-facing, discoverable, and playable everywhere without a direct link (searchable, embeddable widely, watchable in mobile apps without a browser), a proper video platform like YouTube or Vimeo is the better tool. This is for direct handoffs and one-to-one sharing, not distribution.
